Genetic disorder is one of the few remaining places where knowledge and awareness have not kept pace with each other.
Genes are the coded information carried in every person's DNA. A change in that code — a mutation — can alter that information enough to affect someone's health, or shape a birth defect from the start. And yet most of the world's population has little idea how genetics relates to the onset of disease at all.
"We want that awareness to reach people around us — and, in time, well beyond us."
Where families ask for it, we arrange counselling sessions where genetics experts review family history for hereditary relevance, and advise on what genetic testing, if any, makes sense next. We welcome anyone who wants to take part in this awareness campaign, whether as a family seeking answers or a supporter helping us reach further.
Whether you're a parent looking for guidance, a caregiver, or a community organiser interested in hosting an awareness session, we'd like to hear from you.
